Butoconazole Yeast Infection Treatment

Butoconazole is an antifungal medication that stops fungus from growing.  It is used to treat vaginal infections caused by Candida yeast species. For majority of women, a course of this medication can effectively treat a vaginal yeast infection. Butoconazole can be availed in the form of a cream that is applied into the vagina using a disposable applicator. Typically, the applicator is made from plastic and comes with doses of application. It is necessary to use the full course of anti-fungal cream even if the symptoms are no longer visible after one day or two days of application.

Side Effects of Butoconazole

Majority of side effects of butoconazole cream are just minor; however, they can painful and unpleasant. The most common side effects of include swelling or soreness, burning sensations in the vagina or vulva and vaginal itching. These side effects are likely to occur upon first application of the topical anti-fungal cream. Butoconazole is not known to cause serious side effects. There hasn’t been any evidence that shows the potential of the drug to cause cellular mutation that could lead to fertility problems or cancer.

Proper Use of Butoconazole Cream

Butoconazole cream is used for vaginal purposes only. This should not be taken by mouth or applied in the eyes. Always wash your hands when using after using this cream. Insert an applicator that is full of cream in the vagina and throw the applicator after use. A dose of Butoconazole Cream is necessary. If you happen to forget using Butoconazole Cream, use it as soon as you remember.

Butoconazole Vaginal

This medication should be used for the whole period prescribed by the doctor even during a menstrual period. It contains mineral that can weaken the latex rubber that diaphragms and condoms are made of. If you use any of these birth controls, they may not be as effective while you use butoconazole. This medication should not be used together with other vaginal creams or douches unless the doctor approves. When the butoconazole vaginal has been used up for the course of therapy and the infection does not clear up, or the condition gets worse, visit your doctor. It is likely that you have other type of infection that will not be treated with this medication. This cream must be used with extreme caution in children. Also, if you are breast-feeding or pregnant, you will have to discuss the risks and benefits of using this medication with your doctor. Talk about possible risks of this medication to the baby.

Fermastat 3

This is an over the counter medicine that is used to treat vaginal yeast infections. This requires three days of treatment. It contains the anti-fungal agent butoconazole nitrate. This medicine should be used in the vagina only by women age 12 years and above and by non-pregnant women. If the person who uses Fermstat 3 is experiencing fever, abdominal pain and foul-smelling discharge, she should stop using this. She should contact her doctor immediately. If the infection does not clear up in three days, the possibility is that there could be other infections apart from yeast infection or the woman may need more medication.
