Stress and Yeast Infection
Stress may result from family problems, student pressure, money troubles or relationship dilemmas. When the body is subjected to chronic stress, the latter can weaken our immune system and increase the potential of acquiring infection such as yeast infection. Usually, this infection begins in the digestive tract and colon.
Stress is a common cause of immunity issues. This is because of the increase of the human hormone, cortisol, during periods of stress and discomfort. Cortisol may partially provide strength to the immune system in the short run. However, it can increase blood pressure, weaken immunity, suppress the thyroid, increase the level of blood sugar and lead to the growth of yeast.
Candida Albicans in the Digestive Tract
Stress can disturb the fungus Candida albicans that are found along the sensitive walls of the small intestines. It will penetrate the mucus membrane and perforate the intestinal walls over time. This would allow the entrance of toxins, undigested foods and bad bacteria to the bloodstream. Whatever it is that the liver is not able to process will be sent back to the bloodstream and into cells.
Candida Albicans in the Colon
The colon is naturally inhibited by Candida albicans. There are times that this fungus will be overproduced because of stress. If this happens, the person can experience gastritis, headaches or fatigue. As the yeast or fungus grows, it overtakes the natural bacteria of the body. It is also likely that the colon becomes prone to parasitic invasion because of the disturbance of the bacteria. The yeast will result to inflamed mucus membranes of the colon walls which can stop vital cells and from getting into cells and cause fecal impactions.
Yeast Infection Resistance in Men and Women
The lowered immunity in the body disables it from fighting back and allows the growth and multiplication of the yeast. Although men are affected with yeast infection, women tend to suffer more from this condition. This is because women experience vaginal yeast infection as the vagina is located near the excretory system making it susceptible to bacterial infection.
Compared to men, women also suffer than men. They struggle through monthly periods, illnesses, pregnancy, personal and family life issues as well as menopause. These conditions play a role in increasing the potential of infection.
Treatment and Prevention of Stress
Chronic stress can be basically treated and prevented by a change in lifestyle. You can do this by altering a poor diet, getting enough sleep and treating healthy problems. People who are suffering from too much stress can also be helped by cognitive therapy. This means that he will be assisted by a therapist to think clearly on painful events in his life. The therapist will work through the person and help him to make sense. The stress that is caused by deadline crunch can be relieved by proper time management. Moreover, it can also help to prevent and treat stress if you learn how to say no. this could be saying no to a complicated relationship or modestly extricating yourself from demands of your extended family.
It is not normal for us humans to live with continual stress. But, we may have short-term stress to deal with crisis but we don’t have enough power and capability to endure this stress always and this would weaken our body. Keep in mind that recurrent yeast infections because of stress signify that something is wrong within and this should be given immediate cure.
