Terconazole Yeast Infection Treatment
Terconazole is an antibiotic that is used to fight off fungus causing infections. Terconazole vaginal is used for treating Candida infections of the vagina. This medication must be used for the whole prescribed period of time. The symptoms may have an improvement before the infection is completely healed. When you skip the dose of this medication, you are putting yourself at risk for further infections that may be resistant to antibiotics.
When using terconazole, it is important to discuss with your healthcare provider if you are experiencing stomach pain, fever and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. You will also have to discuss with your doctor if you have either HIV or AIDS, diabetes and you have been allergic to medications like butoconazole, clotrimazole, ketoconazole, econazole and miconazole.
Administering Terconazole
This product is to be used for the vagina only. You must wash your hands before and after you use it. Keep it from getting it into your eyes. But if this happens, wash your eyes immediately with a lot of water. This product should only be used once every day at bedtime for three to seven days or as your doctor directed. The length and dosage of treatment will depend on your response to treatment and medical conditions.
Make sure you know all usage and preparations indicated in the package of the product. If you use the cream, you should utilize the applicator. If you are using the suppository, you can use either your finger or the applicator to insert it. Make sure to unwrap the suppository before you use it. Always follow all instructions in the package especially on how to fill the applicator with the suppository or cream. You should apply these medications while lying on your back with your knees bent toward your chest. Insert the suppository or applicator into your vagina as far as it can go. Press the applicator’s plunger slowly to release the treatment. Don’t forget to clean the applicator using warm soapy water, then rinse and dry it. If you experience burning or itching around the vagina, you can apply terconazole cream once every day. This medication must be continuously used every day until the complete prescribed quantity is finished even if you have observed that the symptoms are gone in just 1 to 2 days. Keep in mind that when you stop the medication very soon, this will allow the yeast to grow continuously and will allow the infection to go back.
This product can be used during menstrual periods. While you use it, never utilize douches or tampons. You can use unscented sanitary napkin to protect your clothing from possible leakage of the treatment. If your condition is not improving or if it returns within a couple of months, you should visit your doctor because it is likely that you need additional or different medications to treat your condition. Also, terconazole vaginal is an FDA pregnancy category C medication, which means that it is not known to harm an unborn baby. This makes it necessary to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant while you use this medication.
